Jensen
Botanical Gardens
The
quiet solitude of the gardens offers a variety of exotic
flora including rare hybrids of camellias, dogwoods,
azaleas, and rhododendrons. The vibrant blaze of color is
one of Carmichael's true indications of spring. The gardens
are located at 8520 Fair Oaks Blvd. Hours are from 8:00 a.m.
to sunset. |
Chautauqua
Playhouse
Chautauqua
Playhouse has been located in the La Sierra Community Center
since 1985. The 95-seat theater provides a full season of
comedies, dramas, and musicals. In addition, it has a
children's theater with performances held on Saturdays.
The theater has performed such works as
Scrooge, The Fox, The Bad Seed, and an original play written
by a local playwright. Chautauqua Playhouse is located at
5325 Engle Road in Carmichael. |
Ancil
Hoffman Park
Ancil
Hoffman is located on the north side of the American River.
The park offers a wide variety of recreational activities
including an 18-hole golf course that is rated as one of the
top 50 public courses in the nation. The non-golfers may
enjoy the huge picnic area shaded by majestic oaks, the open
game field, or a leisurely stroll along trails through an
85-acre nature study area. |
Effie
Yeaw Nature Center
The
Nature Center gives park visitors an opportunity to see
flora and fauna close up along with exhibits, special
programs and a ranger to answer questions. Organized tours
are available by reservation. A horse arena and trails suit
the needs of the equestrian. |
